Dr. Laurie Scott graduated from the Oklahoma University College of Medicine in 1987. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Paul Medical Center in Dallas in 1991 and her fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center / Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas in 1993. She was on the medical faculty for UT Southwestern until 1997, when she relocated to South Florida. She is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She established Perinatal Center of Florida in 2006. Her special interests are in management of medical complications of pregnancy, particularly those mothers with critical medical illnesses (such as heart failure , repaired or unrepaired congenital cardiac anomalies, cancer complicating pregnancy, and severe preeclampsia), sonographic evaluation of placenta accreta, as well as the management of pregnancies with fetal abnormalities and those at risk for very preterm deliveries.
Dr. Scott is the Medical Director of the Memorial Healthcare System Maternal Fetal Medicine program and works with a multidisciplinary team of adult and pediatric subspecialists, obstetricians and the other Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists at Perinatal Center of Florida in caring for high risk mothers and their babies. She is affiliated with Memorial Regional Hospital, Memorial Hospital Miramar and Memorial Hospital West and works closely with the medical staff of Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Memorial Regional / Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital have a Level III Nursery, Level I Trauma Center, Adult and Pediatric Heart Program, Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Neurosurgery, the Moffitt / Memorial Comprehensive Cancer Center (housed at Memorial Regional and Memorial West), and Neuroscience Institute, among other tertiary and quaternary programs, all available to help manage our most complicated mothers and babies. Dr. Scott, Perinatal Center of Florida and the Maternal Fetal Medicine program at Memorial are happy to accept referrals for the management and / or delivery of complicated pregnancies from around our region and beyond.
