Dr. Ayres was a practicing pediatrician for several years and originally came to radiology to study pediatric radiology, but by chance came across nuclear medicine and found it an even better fit. Her professional interest is in PET (PET Imaging Institute of South Florida) and increasing the use and awareness of new radiotracers including florbetapir for dementia and gallium-DOTATE for neuroendocrine tumors. Research projects during residency training included the use of 18F-FES (fluoridated estradiol) for imaging breast cancer and desmoid tumors. Dr. Ayres outside interests include traveling, skiing, and family time.
